The accused, Rizwan Qureshi, was arrested. The young woman reported that the driver, Qureshi, first exposed himself in front of her when she was sitting beside him in the front seat and inappropriately touched her, even as two other women sat in the rear seat of the car. "I tried to find a cop on the way but could not find one directly in front of me on DH Road. So, after reaching close to my destination, I took the driver along with the car to the police station and requested them to take legal action against the driver," she said.According to the complaint, the victim went to Avani Mall with her friend and the friend's mother and booked the ride through the Rapido app. Cops said a preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was operating without full documentation. The accused driver was sent to judicial custody."A spokesperson for the app cab said in a statement, "We have zero tolerance for such behaviour. The driver's access to our platform has been immediately suspended, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities in their investigation.""Ride-hailing companies must implement more robust screening processes and safety features to prevent such incidents," said Meera Roy, a women's rights activist.
