Chandrakona: Four persons died on Tuesday night in a motorcycle collision along the Ghatal-Chandrakona state highway in Khirpai, West Midnapore. One person remains in critical condition and is currently receiving medical treatment. Police said that none of the motorcyclists were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.According to police, the incident took place around 8:30 PM when two motorcycles, travelling at high speed in opposite directions between Ghatal and Khirpai, collided head-on. All five riders were thrown from their vehicles. They were rushed to Khirpai rural hospital, where three were declared dead. The remaining two were referred to Ghatal sub-divisional super speciality hospital, where one more succumbed to injuries.The deceased have been identified as Sujan Dolui, Sk Israyel, Hanif Mandal and Saikat Ali Bayen. Saidullya Bayen survived the accident and is currently under treatment.Israyel was a resident of the Khirpai region, Sujan hailed from Khanakul in Hooghly district, while the remaining three individuals were from the Kotulpur area in the neighbouring Bankura district.
