Kolkata: ISRO chairman V Narayanan, who was honoured with the Rammohan Mission Purashkar 2025 at a ceremony commemorating Raja Rammohun Roy's 253rd birth anniversary at Science City Auditorium by the Rammohan Mission School, on Thursday emphasised the space agency's commitment to ensure national security. His visit to Kolkata comes nearly two weeks after Operation Sindoor. "We are working diligently with various departments to ensure citizens' safety," he stated. Narayanan highlighted ISRO's achievements, including the deployment of 57 satellites serving various purposes from weather prediction to disaster management. He also mentioned Gaganyaan mission, India's first human space flight programme, and plans for establishing an Indian space station before the country's centenary of independence. He also spoke about India's Mars mission and Chandrayaan-4 and Chandrayaan-5. Social activists — Bhakti Banuar, Saimani Mahato, Belarani Mahato, and Parbati Mahato — were conferred with Rammohan Acarya Sanman 2025 for their work for rural tribal communities. School principal Sujoy Biswas highlighted the institution's dedication to social service.
