Kolkata: An amateur photographer was arrested by Narendrapur police on Sunday for blackmailing a woman by threatening to make their intimate photos viral on social media. The accused, identified as Partha Das from the Haltu area, met the woman on social media two years ago. Both were married at the time. As their relationship developed, they decided to live together and rented an accommodation. The woman became suspicious when Das would only stay during daytime hours. According to the complaint, Das took Rs 2. 5 lakh from the woman and refused to return it. When confronted, he allegedly threatened to make their intimate photos public. The woman claimed that Das had even sent those photos to her former spouse. The Narendrapur police acted swiftly on the complaint filed on Sunday morning and arrested Das from Haltu. "We arrested the accused immediately after receiving the complaint. We want to interrogate him in custody. He tried to evade arrest," said a police officer. The accused's mobile phone and laptop have been seized for forensic examination.
