Kolkata: Swasthya Bhavan in Sector V was embroiled in a bomb scare for the second consecutive day on Tuesday after a bomb threat was received via email, prompting a renewed security cover by Bidhannagar Police. The latest email, sent from an ID different from the one from which a threat mail came on Monday, warned that four RDX explosives were planted in the building and that they would detonate at 5 pm. Police immediately responded with bomb squad units, sniffer dogs and cybercrime specialists, but no explosives were found in the search. In Monday's incident, the email claimed four IEDs were planted at the health department's headquarters. That threat triggered a search and security operation but turned out to be false. Police said both emails were likely hoaxes meant to create panic. The cybercrime department said a probe has been launched to trace the origin of the emails and determine the motive. Security has been beefed up at Swasthya Bhavan, said police.
