Kolkata: Trinamool on Sunday ripped into Union home minister Amit Shah's speech, asking him to take responsibility for the security lapses during the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 and resign instead of politicising Operation Sindoor. It also referred to the "irony of BJP's crusade against corruption" with Suvendu Adhikari as its spearhead.TMC MP Sagarika Ghose said: "BJP is the world's largest washing machine, headed by Amit Shah. All ED cases are against opposition leaders. Suvendu Adhikari, sitting next to Shah, has also been washed like this."Accusing Shah of "trying to politicise the purity of sindoor", Ghose asked: "If he is so concerned about national security, why weren't border villages evacuated during the drill? Why were they left there like sitting ducks for Pakistani shells, bullets and grenades?" TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said: "He (Shah) is to be blamed and if it is hampering national security, then he is the home minister, so he should resign. He is a total failure who actually allowed the terrorists to get into the country and kill 26 of our own in Pahalgam. Our delegation went to Kashmir's Poonch and Rajouri and saw how people feel insecure in border villages." State finance minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said: "Who is responsible to stop infiltration? Who heads BSF? You are proving your incompetence. Amit Shah, you must resign. You didn't even have any kind of intelligence regarding the Pahalgam attack. It is because of your negligence that 26 people lost their lives and you are yet to catch the accused terrorists." Alleging that Shah has started a divisive narrative in poll-bound Bengal, Ghose said: "Shah comes to Bengal and acts like a BJP karyakarta. His politics is all about divide and rule, he is keen on dividing people. The country is becoming weak because of this. He wants to divide Hindus and Muslims, BJP and non-BJP states, Centre and Bengal. They are the real ‘deshdrohis' because they are weakening India by their constant politics of division." "Shah said Hindus are persecuted in Bengal. We invite him to see the celebration of Hinduism during Durga Puja in Bengal. Recently, the Jagannath temple was inaugurated here. Shah should see that too," Ghose added. Bhattacharya also had GST posers for Shah. "What is your GDP increase for 2023-24 and 2024-25? It increased by 9% on basis of central GST, state GST and IGST. We only have state GST and if we compare the said two years, then it increased by 11%. We are giving money and you are showing as if you are doing everything. We condemn it. In March, our collection was 8.8% more than previous year." Bhattacharya said, "Why are you not releasing our MGNREGA funds? I heard you think a lot about women. According to the MGNREGA Act, women should be getting one-third of the jobs. Aren't you thinking about this?"
