  • 123 Kolkata: A 64-year-old practising doctor, who was earlier posted with the state govt health department and now at Sankrail in Kasba, was physically assaulted in his chamber at Bediadanga, Kasba, allegedly by four individuals on Saturday evening, police said. The victim, Shankar Bhagwan Tiwari, was attending to patients at his chamberwhen the accused reportedly entered the premises in an inebriated state around 7 pm and began causing a disturbance. The cops claimed a property dispute over the dispensary led to the incident. According to the complaint filed at Kasba Police Station, the accused—identified as Rajesh Pandey alias Chiku Pandey, Manish, Abhishek Dubey, and Rahul—physically assaulted Tiwari, injuring his right hand, left shoulder, and left arm. The situation escalated when the doctor's 20-year-old son attempted to intervene, resulting in him also being attacked by the accused, who returned with additional accomplices. Tiwari sustained a dislocated shoulder during the incident. DC (Jadavpur-SSD) Bidisha Kalita confirmed that a case was registered. (With inputs from Debabrata Shome)
