Cops fail to nab Qadri, may move court for arrest warrant

Kolkata: Multiple raids by Kolkata and Assam police teams on Rashidi Foundation co-founder Wazahat Khan Qadri's Garden Reach home have drawn a blank. Police are now likely to move court, seeking an arrest warrant against him.Qadri (34) faces multiple charges, including promoting enmity between different groups and making deliberate attempts to outrage religious feelings. Those were some of the very charges that Qadri himself had levelled against the law student of Symbiosis International University in Pune, leading to her arrest on May 30.Police teams from Golf Green and Garden Reach police stations and detective department raided Qadri's home but he had been missing for the past 96 hours, said an officer. Police had served the first notice on him on Monday to appear before it and a second one on Tuesday but Khan remained elusive. Kolkata Police commissioner Manoj Verma did not comment but all he said was the matter was sub judice.A five-member Assam Police team arrived in Kolkata on Wednesday and raided Qadri's home. Qadri was not present. The cops asked Qadri's father, Saadat Khan, to be present at home during their next visit, which they said would be on Thursday. But on Thursday, when the team visited the house, Sadaat was not present.Delhi Police have also sought Kolkata Police's help to question Qadri.
