  • Kolkata: Union minister Bhupender Yadav on Tuesday criticised Bengal govt for staying silent on the issue of infiltration through its borders. He accused Trinamool of "assisting infiltrators from across the border to settle in the state". He also alleged that incidents of attacks on women had increased since TMC took office in 2011.Speaking at a media interaction to mark 11 years of the Narendra Modi govt, Yadav said: "Law and order is a state subject. Infiltration impacts law and order situation the most. Each state is responsible for stopping infiltration and improving the law and order situation in the state." "Unfortunately, Bengal does not play a cooperative role with Centre. Trinamool is an expert in appeasement and infiltration," he said.Yadav added that Bengal govt was not even helping central forces in identifying and deporting foreign nationals. "Appeasement politics and torture on women will not help govt to provide good governance. We also need a govt that has zero tolerance towards terrorism," he said.Pointing at the "biggest administrative failures" of Bengal govt, Yadav cited the examples of Sandeshkhali and the violence in Murshidabad and Malda.Yadav also blamed Bengal's "non-development" and "resistance" towards centrally sponsored development projects for its poor performance. "In the days to come, the Modi govt will lead Bengal's development," he added.
