Kolkata: A 76-year-old woman, Namita Paul, was found dead with ligature marks on her neck inside her locked house on Serpentine Lane on Wednesday evening. Cops from Muchipara PS have initiated a murder case and are investigating the angle of theft, insider role as a possible motive.A relative, who was passing by her house, first discovered Paul's motionless body on the floor through a window and informed the police around 5.30 pm. According to an officer, Paul, who lived alone following the deaths of her husband and two sons, was last seen alive by her nephew around 9:30 pm on Tuesday. The nephew, who lives opposite her house, noticed her front door locked from outside the next morning but didn't raise an alarm. "The presence of ligature marks indicate potential foul play," said joint CP ( crime & traffic) Rupesh Kumar.
