Drama, says TMC after Suvendu’s tulsi march in city

12 Kolkata: Trinamool Congress on Thursday alleged that "BJP's mask was slipping off" after BJP legislators tried to disrupt the assembly on the Maheshtala clashes, staging a walkout and then marching to the Raj Bhavan in protest. Pointing to the arrest of a "BJP worker" and "explosives", Trinamool alleged the Maheshtala violence was part of a "BJP script" to instigate people. Adhikari's march with the tulsi plant was nothing but a drama, said a Trinamool legislator.The Maheshtala incident led to a furore in the assembly. As soon as the session began on Thursday, BJP MLAs moved adjournment motions on the incidents of violence in Murshidabad and Maheshtala. Speaker Biman Banerjee stated that since the matter was sub judice, it could not be discussed. BJP MLAs protested, Adhikari and others started raising slogans. Assembly staff formed a human chain between the BJP MLAs and the Speaker's chair. The BJP legislators then walked out.The Speaker said, "This is West Bengal Assembly. No matter how much you shout, session will not be suspended." The speaker said, "They shout and create chaos, raising different issues. They thought they could paralyse the assembly. But the assembly cannot be shut down like this. The West Bengal Assembly has a tradition." After walking out of the assembly, Adhikari and other BJP MLAs marched towards Raj Bhavan to meet governor CV Ananda Bose.Trinamool MLAs condemned the BJP action. Party spokesperson Ghosh said, "The Maheshtala incident has exposed BJP's scripts. They are now trying to deflect the attention. In this incident ingredients used to make explosives have bene seized. This is part of a script to foment trouble."
