12 Kolkata: A day after Namita Paul (76) was found murdered inside her Sealdah residence on Wednesday evening, cops said that the murder was most likely committed by someone known to the victim."Paul was found lying in the first floor drawing room of the ground floor, the very first room one comes across when entering the house. Her foot lay toward the stairs even as the body lay near the balcony. A saree was wrapped around the neck. Bangles were missing from the hands. She was likely to have been strangulated with the saree. There are no signs of her being hit anywhere," said a senior cop. Sources said the victim was looking to sell old furniture and was inviting over potential customers to her residence. "There were no signs of forced entry at the main door, suggesting the perpetrator was known to the victim and had friendly access to the house," said a senior investigating officer . "While items appear to have been searched through, we cannot yet confirm if robbery was the primary motive.""All CCTV footage has been collected, but we believe that this case might take a bit to get cracked," said a senior investigating officer.
