• Cam-fitted drone crash-lands in pond near Indo-Bangla border

  • Kolkata: Fresh security concerns emerged after a drone equipped with multiple high-resolution cameras crashed into a pond near the India-Bangladesh border at Hingalganj on Wednesday night. The incident triggered panic among locals and prompted a joint investigation by cops and BSF. According to cops, residents of Bankura Gazi Para spotted the drone falling from the sky into a local pond around 10.50 pm. Locals alerted cops, following which, police and BSF personnel recovered the drone using nets.Preliminary investigations revealed the drone was fitted with five high-resolution surveillance cameras, raising suspicions of espionage given the area's sensitive location near the border. We had never seen anything like it before," said Fatima Bibi, a resident of Bankura Gazi Para. "It hovered over the pond before falling in, and we panicked and alerted cops," said Kashem Mistri, another local.
