Kolkata: The homicide section of the detective department filed the chargesheet on Tuesday at the Alipore Court against film director Siddhanta Das in connection with the April 6 crash that killed one pedestrian and injured six others at Thakurpukur market. The cops charged him with murder and attempted murder. However, both his co-passengers, who are actors, have not been named in the chargesheet.
The 352-page chargesheet submitted to the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's court in Alipore includes testimony from 47 witnesses. The actors have been named as witnesses. Das also faces multiple charges under the BNS Act and Motor Vehicles Act, including reckless driving causing death. Das, also known as Victor, was heavily intoxicated when he ploughed through the crowded market in the early morning hours of April 6.
The accused confessed that he was so inebriated he couldn't distinguish between day and night," said an officer, adding there was multiple evidence to show that "his action was deliberate".
