Traffic cops take up man’s wrong car fine complaint

Kolkata: The Kolkata Traffic Police received an unusual complaint from a motorist after discovering a concerning discrepancy in a traffic violation notice. The vehicle registration number of his car appeared to have been used on a different car. This led the motorist to raise an alarm about potential number plate cloning or system errors in the city's traffic enforcement mechanism. After he complained on the X platform on the Kolkata Traffic Police page, the cops responded, stating that they would probe the incident.
The affected citizen also took to social media, to draw attention to the issue and tagged multiple authorities, including Kolkata Police, the ministry of road transport and highways and various govt digital service platforms seeking clarification and resolution.
