  • Kolkata: Passengers travelling through Kolkata airport on Thursdays can now learn a recipe of some culinary delight from a master chef at the Kolkata airport lounge. This comes as an initiative undertaken by the Kolkata airport to elevate the passenger experience by introducing such activities on the airport premises.

On Thursday, Chef Rango Mukherjee gave a live demonstration of "Kolkata's Tawa Veg Pulao," a flavourful and vibrant dish that reflects the region's diverse culinary heritage. The show hosted at the airport lounge piqued the curiosity of several travellers, both women and men.

"This special culinary session has been curated exclusively for Kolkata airport and aims to offer an engaging and enriching experience to passengers and stakeholders alike. We hope these weekly masterclasses become a signature passenger engagement initiative at the airport," an airport official said. Chef Mukherjee, a culinary strategist and brand consultant, is known for merging his MBA-driven business insights with innovative gastronomic concepts. Trained at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Mukherjee also serves as the treasurer of the Eastern India Culinary Association (EICA), actively contributing to regional culinary growth, chef development, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

The chef will conduct such sessions at the Kolkata airport lounge every Thursday and bring new recipes, techniques, and insights to travellers and food enthusiasts. "The initiative focuses on creating memorable experiences that go beyond travel," another official added.
