Kolkata: The parents of RG Kar rape-murder victim appealed to everyone recently to walk in a protest march to Nabanna on Aug 9. They said this when Bengal opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari, who has already announced the Aug 9 march, went to meet them. Trinamool responded, saying that the RG Kar parents were being "politically used" both by BJP and CPM.
The victim's father told reporters, "It will be a year on Aug 9, and we have not received justice. In protest against the current image of the state in court and to demand justice, we are calling for a march to Nabanna. We invite people from all walks of life to join us.
" He added, "On Aug 14, just like millions took to the streets to reclaim the night, I urge everyone to come out again to change this society. Let the night of Aug 14 be observed again.
" Adhikari said, "The parents of our murdered sister will be at the forefront of a rally. Thousands, without party colours, will march to Nabanna.
"Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, "They (the parents) have every right to go. But their emotions are being misused. Within 24 hours, KP made arrests. They listened to others and called in CBI. Now they say the CBI is not delivering justice. Unfortunately, they are being used on a political platform.
