Midnapore: Trinamool Congress on Monday expelled Baby Kole for assaulting and publicly humiliating an elderly Left activist last week. Anil Das was thrashed on the street, had paint smeared on him and hit with shoes.
After attending a rally in Midnapore, Trinamool spokesperson Jay Prakash Majumdar told reporters: "An indecent incident took place in Kharagpur. A woman party member, Baby Kole, misbehaved with an elderly Left activist. CM Mamata Banerjee has always made it clear that there is no place for indecency and violence in Trinamool. Kole was issued a show-cause notice and had responded. Today (Monday), TMC state president Subrata Bakshi instructed the district brass to expel her from the party.
"Das has moved Calcutta High Court alleging police inaction on the matter. His wife, Sushmita, has written to CM Banerjee.
