Kolkata: Birbhum SP Amandeep on Tuesday moved Calcutta High Court, seeking quashing of NCW's direction to appear before it in Delhi on July 14 with the case diary on Trinamool strongman Anubrata Mondal's alleged verbal abuse of Bolpur police station's inspector in charge.
Granting permission to file the application, Justice Tirthankar Ghosh said the matter would be taken up on Wednesday, provided the SP served a copy of the petition to the parties involved.
The SP's lawyer said NCW was interfering in an probe and coercing investigators to invoke certain charges before producing the case diary.
In 2024, a Supreme Court had bench frowned on summons issued to govt officials seeking their personal appearance in courts. The apex court had framed a standard operating procedure, stressing that courts exercise consistency and restraint and stay away from arbitrary summons.
