Student of IIM Calcutta arrested for allegedly raping a woman on campus

This development comes within a month of the alleged gang rape and assault on a 24-year-old student in the premises of the South Calcutta Law College.
Kolkata Police arrested a student of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, in connection with the alleged rape of a woman in the premises of the institute.
A high-ranking official of the Kolkata Police said on Saturday (July 12, 2025) that the survivor filed a complaint at the Haridevpur Police Station late on Friday (July 11, 2025) evening.
The accused is a current student of the institution, he added.
A case has been initiated based on the survivor’s complaint, the police official further said.
This development comes within a month of the alleged gang rape and assault on a 24-year-old student in the premises of the South Calcutta Law College, raising questions on the safety of women in the educational institutions of the city.
