12 Kharagpur: Four people were killed early Saturday after a private SUV collided with a truck on NH-16 between Kharagpur and Balasore. The victims have been identified as Kartik Chandra Lahiri (60), Atanu Guha (42), Biswajit Mondal (48), and Himadri Sekhar Patra (44), all residents of a housing estate in West Burdwan's Vivekananda Sarani.The four were travelling from Belda to Dantan when their vehicle veered into the opposite lane, crashing into a truck. The impact left the front section of the SUV severely damaged, trapping the occupants inside. They were declared dead at the scene.Belda Police and National Highway authorities used electric cutters and a crane to retrieve the bodies. The truck has been taken into custody.
