• Shravani Mela: Tarakeswar station takes safety measures
    The Statesman | 13 July 2025
  • Anticipating a large influx of pilgrims during the Shravani Mela–2025, Howrah Division of Eastern Railway has undertaken comprehensive crowd management and security measures at Tarakeswar railway station to ensure the safety, convenience and smooth movement of all passengers.

To manage the crowd, a large holding area has been created adjacent to the platform 1A of the station for guiding the public to have a regulated entry into the station.

Entry to the station premises is to be done through the holding area for trains moving towards Howrah/Sheoraphuli direction. Visitors moving towards Arambagh/Goghat will have the second entry from the bus stand side. In addition, platform-wise train operations would be done with Howrah/Sheoraphuli-bound trains to depart from platform number one and 1A while Arambagh-bound trains will depart from platform number 02/03. The divisional railway has also planned barricading on platform number 1 to segregate entry and exit onto trains for better crowd management. Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) will also be operational near barricaded enclosures, the temple side, and the bus stand side for hassle-free ticketing. Additionally, large-scale RPF deployment is planned for passenger assistance and to maintain law and order.

The Eastern Railway has requested the passengers to avoid using the Railway station to reach the bus stand.

They have also been urged to avoid using railway tracks/yard to move/cross over and avoid boarding the trains from off-side of the platform. Passengers are requested to not trespass the track
