Kolkata: Three more persons were arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of Trinamool functionary Razzak Khan in Bhangar, bringing the total number of arrests to four. All three men were sharpshooters who carried out the murder under instructions from Mofazzel Molla, claimed local sources.
Joint commissioner of police (crime & traffic) Rupesh Kumar announced the arrests of Azharuddin Molla, 25, Jahan Ali Khan, 50 and Raju Molla, 26, all residents of Bijoygarh Bazar in Bhangar. Earlier on Sunday, Mozaffel, a member of the TMC committee in the Bhangar assembly constituency, was arrested based on CCTV footage and circumstantial evidence.
Khan was murdered Thursday night while returning from a party meeting.
Police sources indicate the murder stemmed from disputes over revenue sharing from local Bheries (fisheries) and market control. The investigation will continue, said Lalbazar, with police not ruling out additional arrests.
