Purple Line Metro services on Joka-Majerhat route were increased from today. Apart from increasing services, service hours of Purple Line have also been increased from Monday to Friday. As per the new schedule, 72 services, including 36 each in the up and down directions are now being operated at an interval of 21 minutes instead of 24 minutes) from Monday. Notably, till now, 62 services were being operated daily from Monday to Friday.
However, to cater to the demand, service hours on this corridor have been increased to 07.57 a.m. to 8.32 p.m. instead of 07.57 a.m. to 8.17 p.m. Though as per the new schedule, first services from Majerhat and Joka will start as usual at 7.57 a.m. and 8 a.m. respectively but the last services from these two stations will now start at 8.15 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.
This move is expected to help commuters to reach their destinations at night. According to the city Metro office, no services would be operated on Saturdays and Sundays as usual.
