As a part of capacity building, a regional conference/workshop on cybersecurity awareness for power sector professionals of eastern and northeastern region utilities was conducted on Monday at Kolkata by Computer Security Incident Response Team for Power Sector (CSIRT-Power), under ministry of power, in association with Damodar Valley Corporation.
The power sector is increasingly becoming a prime target for cyber threats, necessitating a trained & vigilant workforce capable of anticipating, preventing, and responding to cyber incidents. Capacity building through cyber security conferences/awareness programs is essential to empower IT and OT professionals of Power Sector Utilities.
L K S Rathore, director, CSIRT-Power emphasised the importance of cybersecurity, particularly in a critical sector as power. He further informed that cyber security awareness workshop initiatives are being taken by CSIRT-Power under the directions of minister of power and efforts are underway to arrange similar workshops for other regions as well.
The workshop was conducted in the august presence of S Suresh Kumar, chairman, DVC, N S Mondal, member secretary, ERPC, K B Jagtap: member secretary and other senior executives.
