  • The Trinamul Congress has been flagging the atrocities to Bengali-speaking migrant workers, employed in different states, especially BJP-ruled ones.

Today, the party highlighted the arrest of five Matua community persons from North 24-Parganas in Pune as Bangladeshis.

Today, the party in its X handle wrote, blaming the BJP on the issue: “Bengalis are being detained, branded as ‘outsiders’, and even deported while carrying valid documents in hand. From NRC notices to map erasure, the attacks aren’t random, they’re deliberate.

“It’s time we connect the dots. Watch this and understand what’s at stake.”

In another post, the TMC wrote: “Don’t you DARE call it an “assessment” or “verification” @BJP4India. This is a full-blown, targeted ASSAULT on Bengali-speaking Indians. You hate us because we come from a state that has rejected your filthy, divisive politics time and again.

“5 innocent BENGALI-SPEAKING HINDUS from the Matua community in North 24-Parganas, including a MINOR were ILLEGALLY arrested by Pune Police as “Bangladeshis.” They had valid Aadhaar, Voter ID & Matua cards, yet they were harassed, branded illegal, and thrown into jail. Where is @Shantanu_bjp now, the man who claims to speak for Matuas? Silent. Gutless.

“This is exactly why BJP has NEVER been able to win Bengal, and let it be known: you NEVER will.

2026 is coming. Khela Abar Hobe!”

Another post by the TMC shared a video, which shows a shopkeeper being questioned about his identity by the police and about the signboard, which is written in Bengali. “Owning a shop with proper documents, as a Bengali, is now a ‘crime’ in Gujarat?

“This sudden surge of anti-Bengali sentiment & language-shaming in @BJP4India-ruled states isn’t random – it’s a despicable attack on India’s diversity & vibrant Bengali culture!

“Calcutta High Court has sharply condemned the Centre’s targeting of Bengali speakers, calling it ALARMING!

“PM @narendramodi, This divisive politics must be STOPPED!” the post mentioned.
