KOLKATA: A Trinamool Congress (TMC) activist was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified assailants in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, Bharatpur, a senior police official said on Thursday.
Sasthi Ghosh was on his way home Wednesday night when the attackers confronted him and "repeatedly attacked him with a sharp tool," the officer said.
Ghosh was found lying in a pool of blood on the street and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, a police official said.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the motive may be a personal dispute over property, though the exact cause will be confirmed after further inquiry. A manhunt is currently underway to nab the accused.
Meanwhile, Ghosh’s family alleged that he was targeted due to his association with the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
