  • Kolkata: A woman surveyor working with the New Town Kolkata Development Authority lodged a police complaint alleging sexual harassment by a resident of a co-operative housing society in the CC Block, during an anti-dengue inspection on Wednesday afternoon.

The accused allegedly touched the woman inappropriately inside the building's elevator when she was about to leave to buy a pen to jot down findings of her assessment. He reportedly also told her, "If you need anything, just tell me, please.

    "

The complainant said, "The incident happened when I went to conduct a survey with my colleague. The man made me uncomfortable with inappropriate comments and gestures.

"Cops, though, claimed that the incident started due to a "misunderstanding" as the accused was not convinced of their role in NKDA. "We have asked him to join the probe," said an officer. The NKDA has not yet reacted to the incident. Cops are gathering CCTV footage and speaking to people around. — Dwaipayan Ghosh
