Bengal medical body restores Santanu Sen’s registration

Kolkata: The West Bengal Medical Council (WBMC) has restored the medical registration of former Trinamool RS member Santanu Sen. The council had cancelled his registration earlier this month for using FRCP (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians) on his letterhead, stating he was not allowed to use the same.
Prior to cancelling his registration, the council had issued a show-cause to Sen asking him to explain why he was using FRCP on his letterhead without registering the additional qualification with the council. Sen had appeared before penal and ethics committee of the council on May 21. At the time, the committee had pointed out that since FRCP was a fellowship and not a qualification, it could not be used on prescription letterhead.
Sen on Saturday said, "I hope the WBMC will now think twice before taking such a vindictive step against my doctor colleagues.
