Cops rescue 34 girls from suspected trafficking bid

12 Siliguri: Thirty-four girls were rescued from the Junction Bus Stand on Sunday from what police suspect was an attempted trafficking operation. Three people, including two women, were detained. Efforts are under way to contact the families of the rescued girls.
DCP Vishwachand Thakur said, "Initial findings indicate that the girls were being taken for illegal purposes. Investigations have been launched to trace the exact sequence of events. We are also trying to determine where the rescued girls were being taken.
