The city Metro decided to withdraw services after few cracks were observed in some columns on the UP platform of Kavi Subhash Metro station today. According to Kolkata Metro Railway, the cracks are suspected to have resulted from uneven settlement of the platform in the recent heavy rains. As a measure of precaution for the safety of passengers, Metro services to and from Kavi Subhash station have been withdrawn by the carrier while train services on the Blue Line is to operate between Shahid Khudiram and Dakshineswar stations in both up and down directions.
The Metro Railway reiterated that the measure has been taken to ensure safety of passengers and empty rakes continue to run up to Kavi Subash station for reversal and maintenance.
The damage is being assessed and necessary repair and rehabilitation works will be taken up in planned manner for restoration of the damaged structures at the earliest.
