• Bengal starts Krishakbandhu kharif payouts

  • Kolkata: CM Mamata Banerjee posted on X that the state govt has begun providing financial assistance under the Krishakbandhu (New) scheme for the kharif season from Tuesday.

    According to the CM, a total of Rs 2,630 crore will be directly transferred into the accounts of 1.09 crore farmers and sharecroppers.

    The state govt has so far disbursed over Rs 24,086 crore to farmers, she stated. Those owning more than one acre of land receive an annual grant of Rs 10,000, while those with smaller holdings are given Rs 4,000 per year.

    "If a farmer dies between the age of 18 to 60 years, his family will be given Rs 2 lakh as compensation. Already about 1.4 lakh farmer families have received Rs 2,920 crore. I am proud that since 2019 we stood by the farmers. Our farmers are our wealth, our pride. Govt will work for their overall welfare in future also," the CM posted.
