Darjeeling: A fire broke out at the Darjeeling Divisional Forest Office's staff quarters in Kagjhora on Wednesday night. No casualties have been reported.
Two fire engines were deployed on the scene. Darjeeling Municipality also joined the rescue operation. According to local residents, the fire is believed to have originated in the kitchen around 8 pm and quickly intensified.
Officials said that cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Darjeeling SDO Richard Lepcha said that the fire likely originated from within the building, as rainfall had left surrounding land too damp for an external source to start the blaze.
