Kolkata: An auto-rickshaw driver was booked for rash driving and verbal abuse following a complaint filed at Lake Town police station on Friday by a couple, both theatre artistes by profession. The incident was reported a couple of days ago on the Bangur Avenue-Belgachhia route.
According to cops, the complainant and her husband were travelling in the auto-rickshaw, when the driver allegedly began driving recklessly. When the man protested against the dangerous driving, the auto driver reportedly responded with abusive language and threats of dire consequences. He then stopped in the middle of the road and asked them to get off.
Police filed a case under Section 79 of BNS. "We are collecting CCTV footage, but we are waiting for some more substantive evidence before we carry out the arrest," said an investigating officer.
