Kolkata: The city's first AC local train will take less than two hours to travel between Sealdah and Ranaghat, Eastern Railway's Sealdah division announced on Thursday.
The much-awaited services would start "before Independence Day", ER said, even as sources indicated the AC train would be launched this Sunday and services would start on Monday. The train will leave Ranaghat at 8.29 am and reach Sealdah at 10.10 am. It will depart from Sealdah at 6.50 pm to reach Ranaghat at 8.32 pm, stopping at Chakdah, Kalyani, Kanchrapara, Naihati, Barrackpore, Khardah, Sodepur, Dum Dum and Bidhannagar en route, officials said. tnn
