• SIR should be implemented across India: Abhishek

  • Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamul Congress national general secretary has demanded that Lok Sabha should be dissolved immediately if the Centre agrees to the Election Commission of India’s statement that in 2024, the voter list on the basis of which general election was held was faulty and riddled with irregularities.

Mr Banerjee in his X handle wrote: “If that is indeed the case, and if the GOI agrees with the EC’s assessment, then the first step towards conducting a genuine SIR and standing on moral high ground is the immediate dissolution of Lok Sabha. If one truly supports the idea of SIR, then as the EC’s own statement the people of this country have been betrayed.”

He further stated that if the new CEC is truly as competent as claimed, then the SIR should be implemented across the country, not selectively in poll bound states.

Mr Banerjee demanded that the House should be dissolved and SIR be conducted across the country.

He had already termed SIR as ‘Silent Invisible Rigging’. He alleged that the BJP has destroyed all the institutions in the country and reduced them to be its party offices. He has already threatened to gharao the office of the ECI in New Delhi if in the name of SIR, the name of a genuine voter is deleted from the voter list.
