CLW achievement of rolling out 300 locos in fiscal 2025-26

West Bengal-based Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), has manufactured 302 electric locomotives in 115 working days in the financial year 2025-26. The 300th electric locomotive was rolled out on Thursday from CLW workshop premises. A total of 302 locomotives were manufactured as on 14 August, which comprises 228 from CLW Chittaranjan and 74 from Dankuni Ancillary Unit.
Vijay Kumar, general manager congratulated the entire ‘Team CLW’ for this remarkable achievement.
CLW’s ancillary unit at Dankuni has contributed immensely in achieving this milestone of 302 locos. It has produced 74 locos, which is also the best ever production achievement corresponding to this period in any financial year.
This year’s production of record 300 locomotives was achieved in 115 days posting an advance production by 33 working days compared to the production of the same number of locomotives during last financial year 2024-25, which was rolled out on 24.09.2024 in 148 working days.
It is worth mentioning here that, earlier in this financial year, CLW has produced the fastest 200 locos (CLW Chittaranjan 152 nos. Dankuni Ancillary Unit 48 nos) in 75 working days achieved on 28 June compared to the production of the same number of locomotives during last financial year 2024-25, which were rolled out on 30 July, 2024 in 102 working days. Thus, posting an advance production by 27 working days for 200 locos.
CLW has also produced the fastest 100 locos (CLW Chittaranjan 79 numbers and Dankuni Ancillary Unit 21 numbers.) in 41 working days on 20 May compared to the production of the same number of locomotives during last financial year 2024-25, which were rolled out on 30 May, 2024 in 50 working days. Thus, posting an advance production by 9 working days for 100 locos.
For this financial year 2025-26, CLW has been given a production target of 777 locomotives.
