Kharagpur: Two days after a local court jailed him for rape, a 60-year-old man was found hanging at his home on Sunday. On Friday, a Kharagpur court jailed him for a year and two months and fined him Rs 10 lakh for raping his domestic help under the false pretext of marriage. Cops suspect suicide and have registered a case of unnatural death.
Amit Kumar Raj was facing trial since 2018. On Tuesday, he was convicted and the court passed the sentence on Friday.
According to police, Raj's family hasn't not lodged a complaint.
