  • Kolkata: Recording a maximum temperature of 32.8°C, Kolkata witnessed a warm and humid Sunday. However, some parts of the city received light drizzles. The weather is expected to remain unchanged for the next 48 hours, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC).

A low-pressure area over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, off the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts, has formed. However, it is not likely to impact Bengal, said the Met office.

"There could be some scattered showers along the coasts and in parts of south Bengal, but we don't expect heavy, consistent spells," said an RMC weather scientist.

A bulletin issued by the RMC on Sunday stated that the low-pressure area is likely to move west-northwestwards across south Odisha-north coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours.

Widespread light-to-moderate rainfall, with heavy rainfall at one or two places, is very likely to occur over some districts of north Bengal, the RMC predicted.
