  • Kolkata: A Calcutta High Court division bench on Wednesday refused to interfere with the order of a single bench in a case relating to the alleged custodial torture of female activists picked up by West Midnapore Police on March 3.

A division bench of justices Debangsu Basak and Md Shabbar Rashidi held that the single bench order to set up an SIT under the IGP and register an FIR against accused police officers was in order. Justice Tirthankar Ghosh's single bench had sent the matter to the ACJM court, designated by the state as the human rights court.
