  • Raj Bhavan on Wednesday issued an urgent advisory to the public after multiple incidents of attempted cyber fraud came to light, involving individuals falsely posing as representatives of Governor CV Ananda Bose, a senior official said.

According to the official, the fraudulent activities include demands for money under various false pretenses through phone calls, emails,  and  social media messages.

The Governor’s office has clarified that it does not solicit money from individuals for any reason through unofficial channels.  Any communication requesting financial assistance or personal details is likely to be fraudulent.

The Governor’s office has urged everyone to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

To avoid falling prey to such scams, the public has been advised to: verify the authenticity of communications claiming to be from the Governor’s office, not share personal or financial information with unverified callers, report suspicious activities to the local cybercrime cell or police station and stay updated with official announcements from the Governor’s office. The advisory states that anyone who believes they have been targeted can contact local authorities or file a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (https://cybercrime.gov.in/).

“Do not share personal details, avoid disclosing personal or financial information to unknown individuals or unverified communication. Report suspicious activities immediately,” the advisory said.
