Kolkata: For a dozen or so schoolchildren, Friday turned into a once-in-a-lifetime experience as they joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the maiden Metro ride between Jessore Road station and Kolkata airport shortly after the PM flagged off the service.
"I still can't believe I was chosen for the first ride. Sitting next to the Prime Minister made it even more memorable," said Ananya Sinha, a class X student of Kendriya Vidyalaya.
Sharing his excitement, Ayan Singh, another class X student of the same school, said he only saw the overhead metro service from outside and was thrilled to ride it even before it began its commercial run. | Gold Rates Today in Kolkata | Silver Rates Today in Kolkata"Meeting the PM was like a dream come true. I am certainly going to flex it in school and will cherish the memory throughout my life," said Singh.
The duo was among 100 or so students invited for the inaugural 4.8-km run. Of them, only 12 got the chance to accompany the Prime Minister on the first trip. The PM interacted with the children about a variety of subjects like their hobbies, ambitions, their views on metro service and artificial intelligence.
