Malda: The wife of a Trinamool Congress worker was critically injured after being attacked with a sharp weapon allegedly by a BJP leader at her home in Malda's Rathbari on Friday.
BJP, however, described the attack as a family feud.
Bapi Roy, a TMC worker from Rathbari in the Mothabari Police Station area, said local BJP leader Shyamal Karmakar had been insisting for the past few months that he join BJP. Bapi's sister-in-law, Mala Roy, is a TMC panchayat member.

Bapi was attacked, too, when she tried to save his wife. Karmakar fled as neighbours rushed in alerted by the couple's cries.
Sushama, who was bleeding profusely, was taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.
Block TMC leader Firoj Sk said, "It was a planned attack by BJP. The attackers must be arrested immediately.
"Police have started a probe, but no one has yet been arrested.
District BJP president Ajoy Ganguly, however, denied the allegation, saying the attack was the fallout of a feud between two families. "There was no politics behind this," he said.
