• Shramashree to now be part of Duare Sarkar, APAS camps

  • Kolkata: Migrant workers returning home from other states can enrol for Shramashree, Bengal's govt's welfare scheme for them, at Duare Sarkar camps. The decision was taken at a meeting of the labour department on Saturday.

    The Duare Sarkar camps are being held at the same venues as the Amader Para Amader Samadhan (APAS) camps, which will continue till Nov 3.

    Trinamool Congress MP and state migrant workers' welfare board chairman Samirul Islam, who attended the meeting, said the govt would run campaigns to popularise Shramashree in areas from where people move to other states in large numbers.

    | Gold Rates Today in Kolkata | Silver Rates Today in KolkataCM Mamata Banerjee had announced on Monday that migrant workers who wanted to return home would get a one-time assistance of Rs 5,000 to cover travel costs and a monthly assistance of Rs 5,000 till they found some employment (subject to a monthly time limit of one year) as part of the Shramashree scheme.
