Kolkata: SUCI has planned a statewide agitation this week against the special intensive revision (SIR) of poll rolls in Bengal calling it an NRC exercise in disguise, state secretariat member Tarun Naskar said on Saturday, reports Debashis Konar.
He pointed out how EC wiped out the names of 65 lakh voters out of 7.7 crore in Bihar in the name of SIR but did not make new additions.
Naskar said EC was acting as an agent of BJP and, in the name of SIR, trying to snatch the voting rights of people. He also criticised the pushing of Bengali migrant workers from BJP-governed states to Bangladesh, for which the party will submit a memorandum to governor.
