Kolkata: CBI officials were at the Sinthee residence of Trinamool's Serampore MLA Sudipto Roy on Saturday afternoon, as part of their probe into the alleged "larger conspiracy" in the RG Kar rape-murder and financial crime at the medical institution. While Roy was not at home, investigators spoke to his daughter.
Agency officials have reason to believe that Roy spoke to former RG Kar Medical College principal Sandip Ghosh on Aug 9 last year, the day of the murder.
Both CBI and ED earlier raided Roy's house in connection with alleged "siphoning off" of instruments from the hospital to his nursing home. He was also accused of swapping machines at RG Kar. In multiple complaints with the Vigilance Commission and ED, including one by former deputy superintendent of RG Kar, Akhtar Ali, it was alleged that Roy had formed "a net of corruption" with Ghosh's help.
