Today, take Hwh Bridge detour to reach Shalimar, Santragachhi stations

Kolkata: Those headed to Shalimar and Santragachhi railway stations on Sunday to catch trains need to leave home early as Vidyasagar Setu will stay shut for 16 hours between 5 am and 9 pm. Such commuters will have to travel through the Howrah Bridge-Foresore Road alignment.
Kolkata Traffic Police said it would coordinate with Howrah City Police to ensure smooth commute for station-bound passengers. "If anyone gets stuck, they can show us tickets for a fast solution," said an officer.
Traffic Police on Friday issued a notice, announcing the bridge's closure, citing its repairs and rehabilitation. The stay and holding-down cables and bearings of Vidyasagar Setu will be replaced and the shutdown of the route will also facilitate the lifting and placement of steel portal beams at a place near Santragachhi Bus Terminus on Kona Expressway.
