Kolkata: Four victims, who lost Rs 1.5 crore to online investment frauds, approached Kolkata Police and Bidhannagar Police in the last 24 hours. A resident of Akshoy Bose Lane, Partha Kumar Biswas, was scammed by fraudsters posing as representatives of an investment platform. The accused, Divayangana Thorat and Kapil Jaikalyani, convinced Biswas to invest Rs 21.5 lakh through a fake link. When Biswas tried to withdraw his investment, he realised he was duped and filed a complaint with Shyampukur police station.
A resident of Mullick Street, Santosh Kumar Jajodia (76), was conned into joining a WhatsApp group and investing Rs 70 lakh. He invested the amount across various accounts, only to discover later that the funds were misappropriated. Burrabazar PS is investigating the case.

The group, promised payment for YouTube reviews, and later coerced Asgar into making investments through Telegram. Despite initial returns, Asgar was eventually defrauded of his money. Hafizur Rahaman from Baguihati, was lured by a group claiming to be from an investment firm. Rahaman was added to a WhatsApp group named "value investment" and was asked to invest Rs 10 lakh in trading and IPOs. Initially shown a profit, Rahaman was also coerced into attempting to buy shares worth Rs 39.2 lakh. Despite lucrative returns, the fraudsters refused to release his funds, demanding more money for withdrawal.
