Trial runs on Yellow, Orange Lines as ops start today
Times of India | 25 August 2025
Kolkata: Trial runs were conducted on Yellow and Orange Lines on Sunday, and the systems were checked to ensure seamless operations from Monday. For now, services will run between Noapara and airport, and passengers will have to switch trains at Noapara if they are using Blue and Yellow Line interchange. Officials said Metro was trying to have direct services from Sahid Khudiram to airport sometime soon. When that happens, passengers may take a Blue Line train and travel to airport via Noapara without disembarking at the transitional station.
Revenue services for the 6.7 km Noapara-Airport (Yellow Line) and 4.4 km Ruby-Metropolitan (Beleghata station) stretches will begin on Monday. Yellow Line trains will start from both ends — Noapara and Jai Hind station — at 7.58 am. N-S Line passengers will come to Noapara, disembark at platform 1 and board an airport-bound train from platform 4. Services will be available till 8 pm at 10, 12, and 15-minute intervals. In all, 120 services will be available (60 in each direction) along Yellow Line and 60 (30 in each direction) on Orange Line.
