SSC portal opens for applications by ‘untainted’ teachers after SC order

Kolkata: The West Bengal School Service Commission on Saturday opened a portal, inviting fresh applications from "untainted" teachers, who had lost their jobs following the SC order, and could not apply again for the fresh SSC test, as they fell short of the new marks criteria. The portal will remain open for 11 days, from Aug 23 to Sept 2. These candidates will receive their admit cards from Sept 3. The exam dates are Sept 7 and 14.
SSC, while inviting applications for teachers' posts, had set the eligibility criteria at 50% in graduation or post-graduation. As a result, many of the jobless teachers could not apply again as back in 2016, the marks cap was set at 45%. The Supreme Court, in a recent order, stated that all "untainted" teachers, who were part of the 2016 SSC selection panel and had lost their jobs, would be allowed to sit for the fresh recruitment test and that they were exempted from the 50% marks criteria. It also ordered SSC to allow them an extra 10 days to apply.
